Next step forward for the Solna Book Concept
The Spanish paperback printer Novoprint has invested in a Solna Bookline to be delivered mid-next year.

Novoprint is located in St. Andreu de la Barca, Barcelona, Spain, and has been in operation for the past 20 years. The company is family owned and was founded by Mr. Andre Bellido, who was formerly employed at The Printer Arvato Group in the technical department. Today, Novoprint employees 150 people, has an annual turnover of €14 million and is growing at a rate of 20 per cent per year.

Novoprint is well established as a major web offset printer for the production of pocket books. At the present, they have three web offset presses that will be joined by a new Solna Bookline Model FF1200, specified for the non-stop production of short to medium run lengths of mono colour pocket book work combined with the ability to produce two colour book work.

The press consists of one printing unit Solna Bookline with non-stop plate change, one Bookline folder incl. ribbon deck and one infeed for delivery mid-next year. The key benefits for Novoprint with this investment are virtually zero make-ready and zero copy waste.

Mr. Andre Bellido has established an unique Graphic Arts Museum, fully demonstrating the early methods or printing equipment, including a printing press constructed from a wooden framework that utilises printing stones rather than printing plates.

In other words, Novoprint will be the place where the latest in web offset book press technology meets with the "old" world of printing!
